Ce Trek Y est une curiosité. La photographie a été découverte sur le Web par Ludovic, un passionné français de VTT oldschool et qui aime également les Trek Y. Son attention a été attirée par l'étrange URT et la forme inférieure du cadre. La solution a été trouvée par une passionnée de Bikes oldschool Audrey. En fait il s'agit d'un bras oscillant d'un Scott G-ZERO intégré sur un cadre de Trek Y 33 série de 1998 repeint en noir. Il ne semble pas s'agir un Y "superlite" de 1999.
Voici le commentaire d'Audrey sur cette étrange combinaison : Ça ne donne rien de plus qu’un erzatz de Scott G-Zero dans le cas présent parce que Le bras oscillant en est un et que son point de pivot ne peut être modifié . En plus d’alourdir le poids d’un G-Zero d’origine ça n’apporte pas grand chose ,
peut-être un peu plus de débattement avec un amortisseur plus long.
En effet on peut s'interroger sur l'efficacité d'une telle greffe. De plus le cadre est modifié de manière peu esthétique. L'URT d'origine semble plus léger que ce bras oscillant Scott qui était fait pour un bike plus lourd fait pour du "hard" dans les pistes. C'est toujours intéressant de constater que les cadres Y n'ont pas fini de susciter innovation, bricolage pour améliorer d'après les propriétaires les performances, oui les Trek Y ont encore de belles années devant eux...
This Trek Y is a curiosity. The photograph was discovered on the Web by Ludovic, an oldschool French MTB enthusiast who also loves the Y Trek. His attention was drawn to the strange URT and the lower form of the frame. The solution was found by a passionate Bikes oldschool Audrey. In fact it is a swing arm of a Scott G-ZERO integrated on a frame of 1998 Trek Y 33 series repainted in black. It does not seem to be a "superlite" of 1999.
Here is Audrey's comment on this strange combination: It gives nothing more than a Scott G-Zero erzatz in this case because The swingarm is one and its pivot point can not be changed. In addition to weighing down the weight of an original G-Zero it does not bring much,
maybe a little more travel with a longer damper.
Indeed we can question the effectiveness of such a transplant. In addition, the frame is modified in an unattractive way. The original URT seems lighter than this Scott swingarm that was made for a heavier bike made for "hard" in the tracks. It's always interesting to note that the Y frames have not finished to inspire innovation, DIY to improve according to the owners the performances, yes the Trek Y still have beautiful years ahead of them ...
Pour comparaison voici Le Bras oscillant tel qu'il était monté sur le Scott G-Zero dont la cadre était tout carbone. Ce vélo date de 2002.

TREK Y 22 - 1995
Le modèle Y 22 de 1995 est un magnifique bike de la première série des Trek Y. Sa couleur rouge (Ice Red au catalogue d'époque) lui donne beaucoup de charme.
Son amortisseur FOX ALP de 165 mm lui donne une géométrie parfaite, par rapport au cadre et l'URT.
L'URT est ici de première génération, il assure au MTB une parfaite stabilité et de belles performances en XC.
Le cadre monocoque carbone de son côté rempli son rôle en assurant de hautes performances en terme de vitesse et un confort appréciable en terrain difficile.
The Y 22 model from 1995 is a magnificent bike from the first Trek Y series. Its red color (Ice Red in the vintage catalog) gives it a lot of charm.
Its 165 mm FOX ALP shock absorber gives it a perfect geometry, compared to the frame and the URT.
The URT is first generation here, it provides MTB with perfect stability and good performance in XC.
The carbon monocoque frame fulfills its role by ensuring high performance in terms of speed and appreciable comfort in difficult terrain.
